The Financial Accounting group in Sydney is looking for a junior accountant to join their team. The person will be responsible for financial accounting and regulatory reporting for the Credit Suisse AG, Sydney Branch and will assist with other CS  entities domiciled in Australia. The role will be responsible for preparing and analysing regulatory returns for the Australian businesses of Credit Suisse. Reports prepared will be submitted to the local regulators.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with APRA/ASX regulatory reporting requirements

• Develop and maintain the processes and procedures involved in preparing regulatory returns.

• Proficient usage of PeopleSoft, CARAT and AXIOM systems.

• Accurate and timely preparation and analysis of assigned reports

• Act as back up for monthly accounting duties for the Private Banking division of CS in Australia with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness.

• Understanding underlying businesses, posting monthly journal entries to supplement automated processes to accurately reflect that business in financial accounting records.

• Usage of the Private Banking system "T24" in order to complete the above tasks.

• Analysis of financial results

• Preparation of monthly balance sheet account reconciliations as part of the groups Account Ownership process.

• Assist the Financial Accounting team as required

Essential requirements:

• Degree qualified in accounting with strong conceptual accounting skills.

• Studying for or recently completed your professional accounting qualifications eg. CA or CPA.

• 2 - 3 years work experience in an accounting related role.

• Interest in the financial services industry and be motivated to learn about the industry. Some previous exposure to the financial services industry will be highly regarded but not essential.

• Willingness to learn about and understand your area of responsibility and be able to leverage your tasks as a platform for that learning.

• Understand accounting related concepts and apply them to your work is essential.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work as part of a team and contribute positvely to a team environment is essential.

• High level of attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

• Adaptable and be able to embrace change.
