Regulatory Risk Lawyer
The Risk Management Group (RMG) is an independent, centralised unit responsible for assessing and monitoring risks across Macquarie. This includes market and liquidity risk, credit risk, compliance risk and operational risk. RMG personnel liaise closely with all operating areas to ensure risks are understood and properly managed.
Due to ongoing growth of our business a regulatory lawyer is sought to join the regulatory risk team in London within Compliance to assist with providing coverage across EMEA.
You will be responsible for:
- integrated regulatory support to Macquarie's business divisions across EMEA, including for major projects to implement regulatory reform and acquisitions
- advising on group wide regulatory risks to potential and existing businesses and their activities across EMEA
- assisting in developing internal know how and internal policies.
To be successful you will
- be qualified in the UK or entitled to practice law in the UK
- have previous post-admission experience of at least 5 years in a regulatory team at a leading private law practice. In-house experience would also be beneficial but not a pre-requisite
- be motivated to work directly within a business in an advisory and implementation capacity
- have significant expertise in one or more areas of banking and financial services regulation and a good knowledge of institutional market practices
- demonstrate the confidence and experience to be able to work in a team environment, independently on matters and also to mentor and train staff
- have good technical and commercial skills with an attention to detail and an ability to deliver a high standard of work under time constraints; and
- possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
