We are looking to hire a Relationship Director whose role will be to strategically manage the relationship with existing key financial services customers to extend the width and depth of their relationship with the bank.
You will develop new customer relationships with key names within the financial services sector. Financial services to include asset managers, investment trusts, brokers, insurance, building societies, money service businesses, private equity houses and appropriate banks.
Your role will involve marketing the bank's products to the sector (broadly those with turnover over £150m and/or FTSE 350 equivalent entities and/or £2bn funds under management), in particular with regards to strategic and long term corporate finance needs.

As a Relationship Director for Financial Institutions your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
- Extensive experience in a Corporate Banking lending business. The successful candidate will have strong and proven credit skills as well as structuring skills and a deep knowledge of related risk and other financial products available to corporate market
- A proven track record of facilitating deals in the Corporate Banking market and an extensive track record in relationship management and strong contacts and at very senior level (i.e. Board/CEO/CFO) relevant to the market segments chosen by Santander
- Proven record of generating business direct with mid corporate clients and without reliance on brokers and / or the bank syndication and club markets
- Several years of experience in Corporate Banking, and the ability to demonstrate broad knowledge of all aspects of this as it relates to the target customers
- Practical understanding of treasury management as to how it relates to large companies
- Previous experience in a senior management position within corporate banking
- Significant understanding of corporate banking in the UK including a deep understanding of working with financial services customers
- Understanding of the cost drivers and basic principles of corporate banking product set.

As a Relationship Director for Financial Institutions your main responsibilities will involve:
- Strategic planning together with the Head of LCG, to prepare, implement and monitor the 3-year strategic plan to ensure synergy with the corporate strategy, compliance with brand values and successful relationships with the wider business
- Establishing an effective cross-sell strategy to include Santander's global markets products of treasury, DCM and structured finance
- Generating business opportunities between UK based customers and its subsidiaries located in countries where Santander has strong presence e.g. Iberia and Latin America.
- Originating, structuring, negotiating and overseeing delivery of new lending business as well as ancillary businesses, maximising opportunities from existing and potential clients, to achieve agreed business targets and behavioural objectives
- Managing the sector and appointed RM to achieve the strategic objectives in terms of cross-sell, processes and services, financial controls, quality and resourcing in-line with SCB's brand value promise
- Ensuring that new business meets minimum return hurdle rates and maintains the credit risk integrity of the portfolio
- Managing existing portfolio of customer transactions, supporting customers and retaining business
- Promoting the extension and development of business with existing customers, aiming at an average of £0.5 million p.a. contribution income by customer
- To understand the needs of customers and prospective customers in depth, and to work with them to find effective solutions for their business issues
- Meeting targets for profit, credit quality, new customers, cross-sales, customer satisfaction, and retention
- Producing robust business plans and presenting them at credit committees a complete business case for proposed transactions
- Working closely with Corporate Banking Risk team and support the production of credit applications for lending and ancillary products
- Being involved in the preparation of facility documentation with Corporate Banking Risk team with reference to internal and external lawyers
- Developing and facilitating effective business relationships at all levels, including peers, senior managers and Ex-Co directors across the business to enable optimal personal and business effectiveness
- Fostering external relationships in a way that promotes LCG's and SCB's reputation and image with customers, the press, regulatory bodies and key financial services organisations
- Supporting the preparation and implementation of a comprehensive marketing programme for the existing and prospective clients
