With approximately $650 billion in assets under management, Wellington manages US, international and global equity, fixed income and multi-asset portfolios for institutional clients and mutual fund sponsors in 43 countries.

Responsibilities

A Relationship Manager is responsible for retaining, servicing and expanding oversees the business management of several of Wellington Management's client relationships. These relationships range from multiple mandate large strategic clients to individually customized assignments for smaller clients. To fulfill these responsibilities, the Relationship Manager works in partnership with investment, marketing, legal, business development, operations, and other professionals at Wellington Management to identify client issues and effect solutions, and to develop and maintain client trust, confidence, and overall satisfaction with the firm's services.

This Relationship Manager position will be based in Hong Kong and involve primary responsible for our clients in Korea.

Role

The role of the Relationship Manager includes the following responsibilities:

- Serve as a primary senior point of contact for client management
- Customize our approach to providing each client access to a broad range of Wellington Management's resources
- Provide leadership to the service team assigned to each client relationship, and for client-related matters generally, within the organization
- Successfully balance the needs of each client with the capabilities and resources of our organization; act as an advocate for the client within our organization and for the organization with each client
- Focus firm resources on client retention based on the specific mandates performance and other variables involved in each client relationship
- Represent the investment views of the firm to clients
- Coordinate client communications to minimize business risk with respect to compliance, legal and other topics requiring discussion and clarification
- Seek opportunities to expand client relationships through leadership in new mandate discussions
- Coordinate with Business Development to maximize probability of success with new mandates with existing clients as well as assist with new business activities with prospects
- Coordinate and collaborate with other functional areas to resolve client issues and concerns
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of client investment objectives
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of client marketplace (geographic, client type, etc); anticipate, communicate, and address trends
- Work closely with service team assigned to each client relationship; provide direction to analysts on client-related and other matters; proactively seek to involve analysts in client-related work; generally contribute to the professional development of the analysts.
- Generally contribute to the management of the business, by participating in projects, committees, and informal groups, and initiating consideration of issues germane to one's role and function

Qualifications

The individual should have a minimum of ten years of experience within the investment industry and have a solid understanding of the needs of Korean institutional investors. The individual should also have a solid background in equity and fixed income investing. The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree with preference given to candidates with a CFA designation, currently working toward a CFA designation, or graduate level degree.

The Relationship Management position requires exceptional teamwork. A successful Relationship Manager will need to develop strong working relationships across our firm to best bring the resources of our firm to bear on specific client problems. In addition, a Relationship Manager should be capable of managing a large number of clients, many with multiple asset management assignments with our firm.. Initiative, creativity, persistence, and consultative selling skills are particularly important in this role. The position will require the individual to travel extensively.
