Relay Protection Field Supervisor Job in Hicksville 11801, New York Us
As the Relay Protection Field Supervisor, you will coordinate the work plan of technical field personnel for the installation, repair and maintenance of all types of instrumentation, automatic controls, relaying and associated communication equipment for the operation of Long Island Power Authority’s Transmission and Distribution system. In order to succeed, you will be able to:
- Coordinate the relay portion of the capital work plan and must assure the completion of work on schedule within the budget and safety program.
- Conduct special investigations and studies concerning protective relaying performance and reliability and office procedures; evaluate new equipment; develop new and revised test procedures associated with protective relaying, telemetering and automatic control systems.
- Represent the Protection and Telecom Division at weekly construction meetings.
- Participate in supervisor rotational 24-hour standby schedule.
- Provide consultation and advice to others on protection issues and dispatching relay technicians.
- Prepare and execute maintenance schedules and testing procedures to insure proper operations of relay protection devices, instrumentation and automatic control equipment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required
- Minimum five years of experience in the field of relaying and/or controls required
- Candidates who possess extensive (10+ years) field experience in relaying and/or controls and a strong background in electronics would receive consideration.
