The Aladdin and Application Engineering teams within the Aladdin Technology group use the latest technologies to design and develop applications that make up the firm's investment management platform. The systems support the full lifecycle of the investment management process, from quantitative risk management to order entry, trade routing and settlement.
Team Overview:
 
The Distribution Solutions team creates and drives the vision, strategic development, implementation, and ongoing support of client-facing websites/applications and integrated marketing and brand strategies across BlackRock businesses and regions. This team also manages client information systems and ensures reliable efficient management and access to the client information.
 
Job Description:
 
This Release Management role is a key position in the AT Distribution Solutions (DS) area that ensures all production implementations follow a clearly defined and robust control process prior to release into the production environment. The candidate is expected to be able to follow and enforce existing release policy and procedures and also to identify and implement continuous process improvement activities around the release process. The role requires the candidate to produce appropriate reporting metrics regarding change / release activities, particularly around production release related incidents. Alongside this the candidate will be expected to host regular meetings with technical leads from the various eBusiness development and support areas across all regions to effectively communicate the impact of change activities on production stability. The candidate should be form a technical background, naturally curious and passionate about ensuring stability of the production environment through high-quality solutions and processes, posses a strong work ethic, and passion for release / change management activities. They must be flexible in meeting the needs of a challenging, fast-paced business environment.
 
Job Requirements:
 
Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Business and significant experience in the job offered or related software development, engineering or testing occupation
• Work closely with developers, testers and business stakeholders and act as an integral part of the software development team using an iterative development process.
• Impact analysis of changes on the production environment
• Create release Strategies and/or release Plans.
• Effective co-ordination of large releases across multiple teams / business areas / regions
• Continuous improvement of the release process
• Identify, research, report, track and verify release related defects proactively and comprehensively. Participate in root-cause analysis of defects
• Adopt a rigorous, quantitative approach to measuring and delivering software quality
• Proven ability to multitask, manage concurrent global project efforts, and work under pressure with minimal supervision in a team environment.

Qualifications and Technical Skills:

• Degree B.S. in Technical major or equivalent work experience in the financial services sector.
• Strong critical reasoning, verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience of the release management process
• Experience in following technologies: SQL, RDBMS (Oracle or Sybase) experience performing data integrity and data point validation according to DB schema, and DB consumer validation testing. Informatica is a +. UNIX, Windows, XML, Java, application server (JBoss), Messaging, and IBM MQ Series experience.
