To implement a structure release management by taking a complete view of people, process and technology. Consider all aspects of a change to include planning, design, testing, communications, deployment and post deployment.

Essential Skills:

• ITILv3 qualified (foundation as a minimum) with practical experience of implementing v3 compliant release management
• Proven ability to manage multiple releases in a high pressure and time constrained environment
• Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary groups at all levels
• Ability to analyze complex dependencies, diagnose issues and identify solutions
• Ability to adapt to fast changing priorities and retain focus
• Excellent time management, communication, negotiation and decision making skills
• Excellent communications skills

Desirable:

• Experience of working with multi-national teams across time zones
• Previous experience of working within an internet security or service delivery environment
• Experience of implementing Release Management to ISO20000 standards

Objectives:

• Define the release management processes, including governance and documentation
• Define the benefits that will be delivered from the implementation of structured release management
• Administer and co-ordinate the execution of that process
• Monitor and articulate benefit delivery
• Review and continuously improve the process

Principal Accountabilities

• Understand and review current release processes across the business
• Identify best practice and build this into a new process
• Remove all areas from the process which are inefficient, or where effort is being duplicated
• Propose process amendments, e.g. in project management methodology, to support a new release management
• Implement a regular release cycle and align the road mapped projects to the cycle
• Take responsibility for release planning, adhering to the new process, coordinating the design, build and release of changes
• Communicate and manage all key release dates, including internal milestones, with the relevant parties
• Improve coordination across the departments and teams involved in releases to ensure that releases are efficient and clear accountabilities are surfaced
• Provide associated documentation to support the release process
• Understand project and component dependencies to enable more effective management of releases
• Review tools and propose any necessary changes
• Reduce the volume of failed implementations / regressions
• Reduce the volume of live incidents arising from change
• Coordinate the resolution of post-release issues and provide feedback to ensure that lessons are learned from issue that arise following release
• Provide management information about releases, ensuring any recommendations for change are implemented
