Reliability Engineer Job in Groton, Connecticut Us
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field, or demonstrated equivalent combination of 8 years work, education or training in facility maintenance field.
Experience:
4-5 years experience in manufacturing or an industrial facility as a shift electrician performing building maintenance and control trouble shooting manufacturing equipment.
Knowledge and can demonstrate the ability to interpret requirements of federal, state and local Codes and regulations.
Knowledge of electrical fundamentals necessary for effective and safe operation of electrical and mechanical building equipment and systems.
Ability to read, interpret and trouble shoot from blue prints, PID's, and schematics.
Working knowledge of electronic controls and VSD.
Demonstrates ability to utilize a computer managements system, to query and analyze data.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must with the ability to effectively present reports and recommendations.
Demonstrates the leadership skills and professionalism to work in a research designenvironment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Predictive maintenance experience to include areas; such as, preventive/predictive maintenance program optimization, vibration and oil analysis, testing, life cycle studies or additional data gathering programs.
Vibration Analysis Training and Certification
Training and experience in Honeywell and/or
Siemens building automation systems
Experience working with CMMS
Certification or formal training from Facility
Maintenance Organizations such as IFMA, AFE or
BOMA
Physical Requirements:
Read and understand information contained in a variety of documents or displayed on a computer screen.
Use a variety of office equipment and to operate a computer keyboard to access data bases, to send/receive messages and to prepare documents.
Attend meetings throughout the site and potentially travel to other URS, customer and/or vendor locations in the area, as well as may have occasional air travel to more distant locations.
Communicate effectively with others on the telephone and in one-on-one or group discussions, meetings and presentations.
Some moving of light to medium weight materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
Tasks associated with being indoors and outdoors during all seasons, walking and standing on hard, uneven and/or sloping indoor and outdoor surfaces and terrain, climbing stairs, scaffolds and ladders, maneuvering into small, tight spaces, standing on scissor lifts and aerial boom lifts, and having repetitive wrist movements.

Maintenance Reliability Engineer
Job Summary:
Maintenance Reliability Engineer is the primary owner/user of Equipment History. Through analysis of equipment history, the application of technical skills, and ingenuity, he/she is responsible for the analysis of equipment problems causing repetitive failures. Responsibilities include: Criticality Analysis, Failure modes and effects analysis; Reliability Data Management, including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE); Structured Root Cause Failure Analysis; Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Programs including systematically defining, developing, monitoring and refining the preventive/predictive maintenance process in pursuit of optimization; Predictive Maintenance technologies.
Essential Functions:
Achieves customer reliability objectives by performing reliability, maintainability, and system safety analyses for a broad range of complex hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems and components.
Improves reliability of individual parts and/or systems by analyzing product failures for root causes, proposing corrective actions, preparing failure and analysis reports and maintaining product reliability control database on product success/failure history. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards.
Researches and prepares analysis reports in response to requirements for Repair Level Analysis; Vibration, Thermal, Infrared, etc. Predictive Maintenance Analysis; Fault Tree Analysis; Maintainability Analysis; Support Equipment Recommendation Data; Life-Cycle Cost, System Safety Analysis; Preliminary Hazard Analysis; Parts Standardization; and Logistic Support Analysis.
Develops, coordinates and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering designs to be used for current and future analyses. Recommends improvements to system and/or process reliability, maintainability and safety by proposing changes in design or test methodology.
Evaluates compliance with reliability numerical requirements by utilizing probability and statistical methods.
Develops and prepares reliability and maintainability Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA's) of complex systems to assess product reliability, maintainability and system safety.
Identifies part, units, or systems posing excessive failure risks; provides engineering support for proposed changes in design.
Refines and enhances system performance and processes by applying continuous techniques.
Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses. Analyzes proposed changes in methods and materials.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and/or participating in professional associations.
Complies with federal, state, and industry regulations. Studies existing and new legislation, ensures adherence to requirements, and advises management on needed actions.
Commissions equipment and updates the CMMS with equipment status, equipment data, defines PM and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) procedures, and establishes PM and PdM frequencies.
