Analyzes preliminary engineering-design concepts of equipment.
Drafts failure mode and effect analysis sheets, using computer-aided engineering equipment, to identify units posing excessive failure risks.
Utilizes knowledge of product and equipment technology, to advise engineers on design to increase the reliability of the system.
Actively involved in research of new stationary and rotary equipment to increase production efficiency to reduce operational costs.
Initiates or monitors Capital projects of the Maintenance Department.
Confers with production personnel regarding system reliability or repair to achieve unit integrity.
Develops and trains employees on procedure changes, usage of new equipment, and maintaining credentials/certifications to effectively achieve departmental goals and objectives.
Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Reviews Incident database and reports to determine cause of incident. Documents initial incident and tracks implementation of resolution (s) to insure closure and abatement of cause.
Completes Management of Changes for new or modified equipment or procedures as needed.
Manages and implements site Mechanical Integrity Program. Modifies activities or procedures to accomplish this.
Acts as a resource to ensure that piping is fabricated in accordance with local and company standards and specifications.
Facilitate Root Cause Analysis/Focused Equipment Improvement Teams as needed.
Performs detailed operational analysis of equipment to determine fitness for maintenance or service.
Utilizes PPE personal protective equipment per task specification.
Understands and complies with all Health, Safety Environment policies.
QualificationsQualifications
Bachelor's of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering from a 4 year College/University.
5+ years experience in chemical industry or related manufacturing industry required.
Must be familiar with and good working knowledge of construction, repair codes, welding, and testing codes and procedures (ASME, API, NBIC, NACE)
Good working knowledge of Process Safety Management Mechanical Integrity requirements
NDE testing
Knowledge of corrosion effects on materials
Rotating Equipment
Knowledge of pumps and pumps systems (repair and troubleshooting)
Turbines (dismantle inspections and repairs)
Compressors
Vibration and oil analysis
IR analysis
