Medical Device Company in Irvine, CA (Orange County) is currently seeking Reliability Engineer candidates with a strong understanding of the fundamentals of Reliability Engineering and analog and digital circuit design.
Overall Summary: A person in this engineering position will be responsible for driving Design for Reliability activity throughout multiple design teams, with a particular emphasis on electrical and electronic systems, software interfaces, and control of laboratory apparatus.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
* Analyze and simulate designs to assure adequate margin to achieve desired reliability
* Mentor engineers in best practices in design for reliability.
* Analyze current electronic system design practices and propose alternatives to the team.
* Analyze software/hardware interfaces in order to determine means of achieving design-margin and effective risk mitigation.
* Develop and implement HALT (highly accelerated life test) protocols and assist the engineers, in a hands-on way, with root cause analysis and issue resolution.
* Communicate concepts for HALT fixtures and connection methods, including sketches.
* Write and/or modify test control software used to prove design reliability.
* Provide real-time electrical-engineering reliability feedback at EE team meetings and design reviews, resulting in improvements to the designs.
* Provide reliability reports, documentation, result tracking, and succinct presentations of material as requested.
* Multiplex amongst a plethora of projects and provide appropriate support to each.
* Use appropriate statistical methods to analyze and draw conclusions from data.
* On occasion, attend and contribute to mechanical and/or software and/or document design reviews.
Minimum Qualifications:
* B.S. degree in Engineering or Scientific discipline
* 5 years of experience in relevant industry and/or projects in academia
* 3 years of experience in Reliability Engineering
* Ability to influence and effect change, with a hands-on emphasis
* Strong and specific knowledge of analog and digital circuit design practices
* Strong self-starter with organizational skills, oral and written communication skills
* Evidence of individual initiative and intellectual curiosity
Preferred Qualifications:
* M.S. degree in Engineering discipline
* 3-5 years hands-on experience working with multi-functional teams
* Experience in a medical or high availability equipment
* Able to provide concrete examples of his or her applied expertise, including technical reports
* Knowledge of Labview™ and object-oriented-programming
* 3 year of Electrical-Engineering experience in a design-function
