At Merck Co., Inc Manufacturing facility in Elkton, Virginia, we currently have three Reliability Engineer positions available at the Stonewall Plant; which is located in the Shenandoah Valley along the Shenandoah River and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The facility is just a short distance from major state universities: University of Virginia and James Madison University. The Reliability Engineer is responsible for providing reliability maintenance engineering leadership and support to ensure optimum business performance in equipment, systems, documentation and asset utilization in all IPT's (Integrated Process Teams) and COE's (Centers of Excellence) at the Stonewall site utilizing predictive maintenance technologies and lean/six sigma principles. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: * Updates equipment data, PM's (Preventive Maintenance), Task Lists and diagnostic methods as necessary to improve reliability * Reviews collected data and develops equipment or skid specific action plans for assets ID'ed as "bad actors" (i.e. excessive process downtime contributor, poor OEE, excessive maintenance cost to % RAV, etc.) to improve reliability and reduce product costs * Develops and tracks metrics on these assets around these and other KPI's (Key Process Indicators) for reporting to IPT's, COE's and plant leadership team * Manages the existing predictive maintenance program. This includes but is not limited to vibration analysis, equipment balancing, ultrasonic and thermography for electrical and mechanical processes * Conducts PPM effectiveness / optimization reviews * Develops and reviews rankings of maintenance material cost, downtime hours and labor hours spent on assets in each monthly IPT rhythm and works with each IPT lead and gatekeeper to develop action plans to reduce spending, increase uptime and reliability on agreed upon identified equipment quarterly * Initiates and executes change controls as needed to implement any of these changes as well as managing capital jobs for any upgrades or asset replacements identified via this process * Works with respective maintenance planners for these IPTs to get changes planned and executed Qualifications Required: * Five (5) years experience in a maintenance or engineering role and a Bachelor Degree in an Engineering Discipline. * Five (5) years experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to locate and/or rank problem assets in an effort to lower maintenance costs * Five (5) years experience utilizing predictive maintenance technologies to identify machinery condition for the purpose of preventing emergency repairs * Analytical and Problems solving skill with regard to electrical and / or mechanical equipment and it's use within a manufacturing or utilities process * Demonstrated experience maintaining and/or servicing rotating equipment * Demonstrated ability and experience with setting up and maintaining Vibration Analysis, Oil Analysis, Thermography, Ultrasonic and/or thermographic predictive maintenance programs * Demonstrated use of Reliability analysis tools such as FMEA and RCFA Preferred: * CMRP - Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional * Demonstrated proficiency in SAP * Use of Lean Six Sigma tools and a certification as Green or Black Belt Our employees are the key to our company's success.
