Relief Support Worker Job in Ilminster, South West UK

Relief Support Worker for  United Response in Torfaen.

United Response support people with learning disabilities and mental health needs to live their lives to the full, taking part in the activities of their choosing and promoting independence.  We currently have vacancies for Relief Support Workers in Torfaen.

We are looking for enthusiastic and creative staff who will be involved in encouraging the people we support in meaningful interactions in a person centred way.  We will offer you on-going training and development and regular 1:1's with your line manager to enable you to achieve the required standard.

Your day will be varied supporting people in the community or at home, with activities as well as with personal care.  The people we support enjoy going out and participating in the community so you will be expected to use your driving skills to drive the service vehicle.

Relief Support Workers are able to work 'as and when', mainly to cover sickness, holidays, maternity leave etc.  Therefore the role is a flexible one.  We work shifts through a 24 hour period and you will need to be available for sleep-ins..

United Response recognises the importance of the role that Relief staff fulfil and appreciate that Relief staff provide cover in a variety of circumstances.  We expect the quality of their work to be of the same level as our permanent staff and this means that, after a comprehensive induction, we will train you to meet specific client needs and develop your full potential.

The people we support at our services use a wide variety of ways to communicate, so a sensiive, understanding (and often imaginative) approach is essential,. especially at times when those we support may become frustrated in their attempts to be understood.
