Job Description Remediation Section Manager AECOM is seeking an experienced professional to serve as Remediation Section Manager in our well-established Richmond-based Remediation and Construction operation. Groundwater/hydrogeology expertise is required; a qualified engineer will also be considered. The candidate must be well-rounded, energetic, and highly motivated to lead a team of professionals in evaluating, designing, and implementing remedial solutions for soil and groundwater projects throughout the country. Responsibilities will include Proposal preparation and management review and evaluation of existing site data; data gap determination; remedial technology evaluation and design; operational planning/sequencing; waste disposition evaluation; cost estimating; technical writing Investigation- and Design-phase technical project execution planning and conducting field investigations and assessments; providing design input and management; evaluation and selection of remedial technologies; contaminant assessment and delineation; preparation of technical reports, work plans, drawings, and technical specifications Construction-phase project execution remedial construction task/project management; coordination with and management of field staff; periodic on-site construction management and support; budget tracking and control; preparation of cost estimates and invoices; schedule development and tracking Personnel and Section management mentor and develop entry and mid-level staff to execute investigation and construction phase remedial services; monitor and maintain personnel utilization while ensuring profitable growth of the Remediation and Construction operation On-going projects include: soil and groundwater remediation under Federal performance-based contract mechanisms, commercial firm-fixed price soil and groundwater remediation projects, construction management, munitions response/ unexploded ordinance sites (RI/FS and remediation work), firing range evaluation/ remediation/upgrade projects, and rapid/emergency response. The candidate must have a Bachelor s Degree in Geology or Hydrogeology with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the design and construction project management of environmental remediation projects. Professional Geologist licensure (or demonstration of licensing track) required. Qualified engineers will also be considered must have a Bachelor s Degree in Engineering (Civil or Environmental) and Professional Engineering licensure. The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of applicable federal and state environmental regulations (RCRA, CERCLA, CWA, CAA, etc.) as they apply to current or potential projects and individual areas of expertise. Technical skills should be commensurate with background and areas of expertise. Must have excellent organizational and communication skills (both written and oral), business development experience, and the ability to handle the demands of multiple priorities (e.g., be able to execute project work and proposals simultaneously). Must be proficient with MS Office applications. Applicant shall have strong written and oral communication skills, and will be required to demonstrate these skills during the interview process.
