Purpose of this role:
Work as part of a multi-discipline team to undertake the capture and management of requirements.
Our client is a market leader in the supply of safety critical flight controls and aircraft actuation systems.
Requirements Management is an important element to the success of a project. Due to increasing workload we are looking to recruit engineers whose main activities relate to Requirements Management.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team assisting with the capture and management of the requirements through the project lifecycle, from customer to component level.
The applicant will manage the validation of requirements to ensure they are complete and correct. This will include initial review of requirements, agreeing validation ownership with members of the multi-disciplinary team and actively working with validation owners to complete the validation activity. The applicant will be expected to ensure complete traceability of requirements up and down the requirement hierarchy.
The applicant will track the verification of requirements to ensure that sufficient evidence is produced to demonstrate the product has met its needs. The will include agreeing verification owners with members of the multi-disciplinary team and working with the owners to produce compliance matrices showing compliance to requirements.
Key Tasks
• Assist in the Capture and Identification of requirements.
• Manage requirement review process (validation) to ensure all requirements are correct and complete
• Manage the flow down of requirements through the decomposition and allocation process
• Manage traceability of requirements from child to parent
• Manage the verification process to track the planning and implementation of verification activities
• Managing requirement change and its impact.
• Producing and managing requirements metrics
• Requirement configuration management
• Work with customers and suppliers to manage ensure effective management of requirements between parties
• Provide guidance to other engineers in the management of requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience of requirements management using DOORS or an equivalent requirements management software tool or database
- Good understanding of the principles related to Requirements Management throughout the product lifecycle.
- Understanding of the product development lifecycle.
- Proven ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team, liaising with peers, customers and suppliers
- Have excellent written communication skills – able to summarise and clarify complex issues
- Methodical, detail-oriented approach to work to ensure clear requirements capture and flow
- Ability to define the strategy for requirements management at a project level
- Experienced in the use of DOORS
- Ability to provide DOORS project management
- Ability to write DOORS DXL programs
- Experience in hydro-mechanical or electro-mechanical engineering industry
- System and component specification writing experience
- Ability to identify and implement continual Improvement to the Requirements Management Process
- Degree qualified, ideally in a technology/engineering/IT/science subject
