Research Analyst
They are looking to appoint a senior analyst to join their merger arbitrage research team which looks across the capital structure, with a focus on Merger Arb and Event Driven opportunities. The research strategies also include distressed, special sits, and bankruptcies.
The team is looking for an inquisitive character that is eager to learn from senior members in the firm. They look highly upon candidates that go above and beyond their job and are keen to get their views across with the intention of creating insightful discussion. They need a candidate that can handle sitting opposite the co-founder of the firm and enjoys debating their ideas (whether wrong or right).
Responsibilities will include:-
- Publish trade recommendations on the day of deal announcement supported by extensive deal analysis.
- Strong interpersonal skills to develop strong relationships with top merger arbitrage hedge funds and their portfolio managers
- Trade recommendations are supported by an evaluation of key drivers of spread including competition concerns, political and industry factors, and valuation factors.
- Meet with merger arb hedge funds in London and their portfolios to discuss current trends and investment opportunities
- Arrange conference calls with hedge funds globally and entertain them when they come to London
- Attend distressed debt and credit hedge fund conferences monthly with clients representing the firm.
- Conduct scenario analysis, assign probabilities and compute risk adjusted price for the trade.
- Identify and monitor potential pre-event targets and initiate coverage on those with immediate catalysts for a bid.
- Maintain deal list, deal calendar and publish daily news commentary on the deals under coverage.
Our client is looking for a candidate as follows:-
· Understanding of the key cash flow and valuation methodologies
· An outstanding interpersonal skills and a high level of communication
· Strong math, accounting and financial modelling skills with a high level of attention to detail.
· Strong verbal and written skills are required. A naturally enthusiastic and charismatic attitude.
The competition for this position will be high therefore you must be able to demonstrate that you are hardworking, highly motivated and driven, intellectually curious, interested in financial markets.
The hiring manager is looking for an outperformer therefore excellent interpersonal plus technical skills are required.
Candidates with fluency in another European Language will be at a distinct advantage.
