BlackRock Alternative Advisors (BAA) manage over $30 billion in assets across absolute return, private capital and hybrid strategies for a broadly diversified, global client base. The unified operating platform combines expertise, resources and capabilities across asset classes, in addition to leveraging resources within BlackRock’s broad infrastructure and global investment teams. The BAA team is seeking a fund researcher to assist Senior Researchers in hedge fund due diligence and monitoring process.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the collection, synthesis, and dissemination of information gathered through interacting with external Hedge Fund managers.
- Build an in depth understanding of the range of hedge fund strategies and the associated instruments.
- Analyze and assimilate hedge fund legal documentations; monitor industry publications for pertinent information, and ultimately conduct the initial interview process with Hedge Fund managers.
- Analysis of capital markets: In addition to evaluation of Hedge Fund managers, emphasis is placed on understanding the capital markets in which the hedge funds operate.
- Remain current of capital market news and players: Create and maintain professional network contacts, identify and evaluate news articles and research reports for pertinent information, and provide the Research team with timely and insightful data points.
- Maintain and ensure all relevant hedge fund data is captured in proprietary database on a consistent basis. The database will serve as a meaningful tool in the evaluation of hedge fund investment opportunities.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or Mathematics/statistics from top tier University.
- Outstanding academic credentials.
- Desire to complete the CFA program.
- The ability to work with individuals at all levels in the organization and contribute to the strategic direction of the firm.
- Capacity to keep the strategic vision of a company in sight while paying attention to the details of day-to-day operations.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the right level of confidence and assertiveness, to present and promote ideas at all levels of the organization.
- Outstanding analytical and organizational skills.
- High energy level with sense of urgency and action-oriented approach.
- Ability to quickly build a rapport and relationships within a firm.
