Research Analyst recruitment

Bellwether Consulting is an investment consulting firm focused exclusively on institutional investors, primarily sponsors of pension and other retirement plans. Services we provide include investment policy formulation, asset allocation and asset-liability studies, investment manager selection, and performance monitoring. Our clients are typically a committee of senior executives (e.g., CFO, Treasurer, VP of Human Resources) charged with the responsibility of running the sponsoring organization’s employee retirement plan. The sponsoring organization may be a large corporation, non-profit, or government agency. More information on the Firm can be found on our website (www.bellwetherconsulting.net).

We are seeking an associate to support the partners of the Firm by:

- Performing qualitative and quantitative analysis of mutual funds and other benefit plan investments,

- Preparing technical client exhibits,

- Conducting research on specific client circumstances, investment options, general market conditions, or industry issues,

- Maintaining databases, software, publications, and other information sources used by investment consultants, and

- Providing general support (e.g., sales/marketing, etc.) for the practice.

Applicants must submit a resume and cover letter, and the following requirements must be met.

1.      Formal post-secondary education with bachelor's degree attained.

2.      Completion of business courses (e.g., economics, finance, accounting, etc.) or professional experience in financial services.

3.      Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.

4.      Ability to interact professionally with personnel at investment management firms and the Firm’s client contacts.

5.      Ability to commit to at least 40 hours per week in the office.

Applicants selected for interview will be expected to provide a writing sample (on any topic, college papers acceptable).

A position in consulting requires the ability to work independently with little direction. We are looking for a motivated self-starter, and will weigh heavily a candidate's enthusiasm for the position, interest and aptitude in investment science, and willingness to learn. The candidate should be articulate, outgoing, and innovative. Additional coursework or experience in project management, finance and investments, or other business disciplines is desirable.
