Research and Education Consultant recruitment

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The primary purpose of the position is to build needed research capacity and market intelligence to satisfy the internal demand for information and education targeted at improving the effectiveness of GIS relationship managers with clients, prospects, and consultants.  Through intimate knowledge and experience in the pension plan industry, and on-going engagements with external constituents and resources, the incumbent will stay current on critical matters important to the institutional marketplace. Through periodic training sessions, the incumbent will share this knowledge with GIS relationship managers (client service, sales, consultant relations) so that they are increasingly viewed as trusted advisors by their constituents as they become a source of valued input on issues and challenges. 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

Critical responsibilities for this role will include determining and providing the industry information and education to our GIS market facing associates that will differentiate their knowledge and insights from others in the marketplace. To accomplish this goal, principal responsibilities will include: 

Prioritizing fund sponsor issues and challenges – seeking input from relationship managers in each region (North America, EMEA, Asia Pacific) on the issues most important to fund sponsors, and with the highest urgency for us to thoroughly research and address. 

Completing desk top and field research – collecting vast amounts of secondary research, integrating and synthesizing it down to key findings, and validating conclusions with input from existing clients.    

Preparing detailed presentation material – collaborating with a communication specialist to prepare thorough summaries of research that stand on their own as educational material on a particular industry challenge. 

Conducting periodic training sessions – presenting research results to relationship managers and others in the firm who would benefit from an in-depth understanding of fund sponsor challenges and implications for T Rowe Price. 

Taking a balanced perspective on issues – framing an issue to describe the range of possibilities so that fund sponsors have all the relavant inputs and tools to draw their own conclusions on a complex issue or industry challenge.   

Research to develop educational information on pertinent industry topics. Information to be utilized with GIS clients/prospects/consultants and other distribution/investment professionals where appropriate. Examples of complex topics include:  Liability Driven Investments, Inflation/Deflation, Legislative and Regulatory issues within regions and other strategic issues. 

Develop and deliver educational sessions with GIS staff on key topics related to industry or regulatory changes and evolving investment / asset allocation paradigms to increase their understanding of the topic and enhance their dialogue with clients.   

Participate in external panels, conferences or academic forums to remain connected and current on matters impacting our industryCreate and deliver presentations/materials on requested topics to Sr. Management across the firm when requested. 

Work with relationship managers to validate the highest priority issues and challenges that require in-depth reseach  This may be done via in-person meeting, phone or web-based focus groups using the Facilitate Pro system to capture and rank topics. 

Develop and maintain the Strategic Resources Group microsite which serves as a repository and search engine for educational material and third party research, and provides a social network for our relationship managers that allows them to continue the dialogue on a topic.
