Research and Innovation Team Leader

Our client is looking to recruit a Research Innovation Team Leader to join their team.

Main Duties / Responsibilities will include the following:
Combine highly creative lateral thinking with excellent technical skills, and a broad base of industry experience, to tackle creative challenges. Work includes identifying insights, market scoping, ideation, concept generation, and working closely with engineering to bring concepts through to fruition, problem solving where necessary to ensure the design intent is maintained.
You will be a very proficient sketcher with an excellent ability to hand render.
Hands on experience of 3D CAD (Solidworks) to create first geometry analysis / visuals
Rendering software is also a necessity (Hypershot, Alias, Studio max, etc)
Knowledge of tooling (injection moulding), Aluminium extrusions and castings.

Skills, Qualifications, Competence Level

An excellent first degree in Industrial Design. A genuine passion for product design, and appreciation for engineering in general. A creative approach to problem solving and technical concept generation. A proficient sketcher and communicator of ideas.
In addition, a post graduate qualification with a high level of practical experience is beneficial.

You will have worked in a product design environment playing a key role in the development team. You will have been involved in taking at least one product through the complete design process. Experience is required of a range of product types, manufacturing processes and materials that builds on the diversity of your training.
Commercial product design experience in the field of consumer related product development
Management experience necessary
Hands-on experience of 3D CAD (Solid Works)
An in-depth knowledge of high volume manufacturing methods and processes
Evidence of creative apraoch to problem solving

Direct experience of product development in the consumer product industry, including experience in the detail design of plastic and metal components is essential
