Responsibilities
Wellington Management Company, llp is seeking a Research Associate in the Global Macroanalysis Group. The Research Associate will be based in Boston. The primary responsibilities of this position would be to provide analytical support on European Macro and Micro Research. In addition to regularly interacting with members of the Macroanalysis Research Group, the Research Associate will need the skills and experience to communicate effectively with constituents outside the group.
Specific responsibilities could include:
•Assist with conducting quantitative and qualitative research
•Providing analytical support to the Macro Analyst on a variety of complex topics including secular trends, potential investment opportunities, countries, industries, and stock indices
•Monitoring, maintaining and interpreting various financial and economic databases
•Developing and producing research presentation materials
•Acting as a liaison between Macro Analysts, Global Industry and Fixed Income Analysts and Portfolio Managers around the firm to facilitate the exchange of information.
Qualifications
We are looking for a self-directed, hard-working team player. This person must be inquisitive, intellectually curious and capable of managing the demands of multiple projects at one time. He/she should be a quick study with high energy. This position is appropriate for individuals with strong analytical capabilities, strong inter-personal skills and an eagerness to apply them to macro research in developing investment recommendations. There is room for growth in this role.
Specific qualifications for the position are the following:
•An undergraduate or graduate degree in economics with a strong academic track record
•2+ years of relevant analytical work experience
•Healthy interest in global capital markets, macro-economics and investing
•Quantitative aptitude with strong mathematical, statistical and analytical skills
•Attention to detail and a commitment of high quality work performed within a given deadline
•Effective communications skills, both written and oral,
•Ability to work effectively across multiple countries in a team oriented environment
•High ethical standards
•Knowledge of Europe, and/or European language skills are a plus.
