DESCRIPTION:
This position requires a BS/MS degree in Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering or Biophysics with 2-5 years of laboratory research experience. The successful candidate will be involved in developing instrumentation as well as optimization of protocols for automated preparation of high molecular weight DNA that is labeled with fluorescent markers. With time, the work will include larger proportion of developing and testing assays for healthcare and food industry. Hands-on experience in isolation and gel electrophoresis of microbial DNA is required. Experience in microscopy, fluorescent spectroscopy, or HPLC is highly desired. Familiarity with propagating and handling BSL-2 pathogens as well as with practices of clinical microbiological labs is a plus. The candidate should be able to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
SUMMARY
The position will require working with technology that has application in several markets, including genomics research, biopharmaceutical product safety and clinical infectious disease diagnosis. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary. An enthusiasm for working in a diverse, demanding and exciting technology environment is crucial. Strong work ethic and team player attributes are paramount.
