Research Associate recruitment

As a Research Associate working as part of the research team, the role requires a technically capable analyst with strong quantitative skills and a practical approach to problems.

The position involves operational support to the management of quantitative strategies as well as research work connected to the development of new strategies and enhancement of existing ones.

Other responsibilities of the Research Associate include, but are not limited to:

• Day to day research support of the currency strategy.

• Providing support, analysis and advice relating to the firm's currency strategy as part of the investment process. The currency overlay product uses an array of quantitative techniques to forecast and control the risk arising from adverse currency movements. Research support plays an important part in the trading day

• In the event of changes to a client's program it is important that a member of the research team reviews the model state after the changes have been made

• Development work on the firm's product range with particular emphasis on currency overlay. This includes extensive time series analysis and quantitative model development in Matlab and Excel/VBA

• Responsible for ensuring that daily models are run

• Collecting data to assist in adding new features to our quantitative investment models

To be successful in this position, the following criteria must be met:

• Good first degree - in a numerate or analytical discipline (essential), second degree - preferable in quantitative finance or a quantitative discipline (or equivalent qualifiers).

• Interest in working towards industry related exam - CFA or IMC

• Previous exposure to the investment management industry, with an emphasis on currency or risk management being desirable

• Understanding of time series analysis and quantitative methods

• Some understanding of global economic forces and modern finance

• Strong computer and programming skills in MATLAB with knowledge of VBA and C++ as well

• Good oral and written communication skills - ability to explain complex issues clearly

• Highly detail orientated

• Able to produce accurate work under pressure
