Research Officer – Journals Manager recruitment

 Job Purpose

To undertake and provide a range of library and information services to support the companies vision of being the UK’s leading library and information services provider and to manage and maintain the information service journals library. To support the decision making of customers, evidence based policy and support customers in making effective use of the service and to support and contribute to project work as required.

Knowledge, skills and experience

1.       Essential: Qualified to degree level and have a recognised professional qualification in library or information services or have relevant experience in a library and information service role. This experience must include library services delivery and enquiry handling across a variety of topics.

2.       Essential: Experience of summarising and abstracting content for policy makers.

3.       Essential: Demonstrable experience of and ability to research data and information sources and provide summaries and briefings across a range of the topics covered by the IIS service.

4.       Essential: Excellent written and report writing skills.

5.       Essential: Demonstrable commitment to team work and the ability to develop and maintain effect relationships with customers.

6.       Essential: Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft suite of programmes.

7.       Advantageous: commitment to undertake personal development through formal and informal training and feedback.

8.       Advantageous: A knowledge of political and cultural sensitivities associated with supplying to customers, when providing information services.
