Research Scientist, Bioanalytical Mass Spectrometry Job in Radnor, Pennsylvania US


Janssen Research and Development, a member of Johnson Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for a Research Scientist, Bioanalytical Mass Spectrometry, located in Radnor, PA.

Research and development areas encompass novel targets in neurologic disorders, gastroenterology, oncology, infectious disease, diabetes, hematology, metabolic disorders, immunologic disorders, and reproductive medicine.

The primary role for this position will be to provide peptide and protein characterization of drug targets, antigens, and receptors using mass spectrometry, establish a MS tissue imaging platform in-house to support drug discovery, and to provide support for identifying novel targets using established platforms. They will provide HPLC, mass spectrometric, and N-terminal sequencing support for the Pre-NME portfolio. Participate as a team member on project teams. Maintain a laboratory notebook in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).Communicate results to other scientific staff members and project leaders in the form of written and oral communications.

The candidate will also continue to enhance the mass spectrometry technology in the laboratory to keep up with the latest developments in the field. Develop new methods/techniques to be used in supporting discovery research.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Biological Mass Spectrometry, or an M.S. with at least 10 years experience, in Chemistry, Biological Sciences and/or related field with hands-on experience with proteomics, protein mass spectrometry and HPLC techniques is required. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of innovation and creativity using MS-based methods for the identification and characterization of biologics. Proteomic experience is required. Additional experience in identifying and locating PTMs, sample purification and preparation, tissue imagine using MALDI TOF MS, and/or N-terminal sequencing is preferred. Experience with Waters/Bruker Q-TOFs, ABI/Bruker MALDI TOF-TOFs, and/or ABI N-terminal sequencers are preferred. Proficiency with oral and written communications and attention to detail is required.
