We are searching for a Research Scientist on a 6 month contract opportunity with a leading biotechnology company in Durham, NC 27713

6 MONTH CONTRACT

Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week - regular business hours

Educational Experience: Looking for someone with a Bachelors or Masters degree in a science discipline

Professional Experience: Looking for someone with 3 - 8 years of professional laboratory experience.

Description: The selected scientist will be responsible for developing, validating and executing biochemical, cell-based and whole organism assays in a variety of different formats to support screening and identification of inhibitors of a variety of infectious organisms or parasite species.

  • Responsible for developing secondary assays and procedures to define the mechanism of action of identified hits

  • The individual should have a solid background in general cell culture, molecular and biochemical techniques

  • A candidate with parasitology expertise, particularly malaria cell/culture work and demonstrable practical experience in manipulating the parasite in vitro would work best

    • Scope of Work: work relatively independently on general cell culture, parasites rearing and manipulation, assay set-up, data collection, analysis and reporting including discussions with external clients to determine next steps
