Department Name 13226-Biological Sciences Working Title Research Specialist Hiring Range $19, # - $30, # Assignment Category Regular, Full-Time Job Classification Research II Position Number # Campus Oakland If other campus, please specify Job Type Staff Percent Effort 100 Position Description Research specialist will contribute to an active research team studying the regulation of gene expression by (a) executing standard molecular genetic procedures including DNA cloning, PCR, and sequencing, (b) performing standard biochemical and molecular biology experiments including western blotting, northern blotting, RT-PCR, and protein purification, (c) conducting standard genetic experiments with the nonpathogenic yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and (d) overseeing routing laboratory maintenance. BS degree required. Education Required Baccalaureate Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Biology, Biochemistry or Molecular Biology, or Microbiology. Basic knowledge in Genetics and/or Molecular Biology helpful. Should have some exposure to microbiological and molecular techniques.
