Qualifications:

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Bonded Abrasives Division is actively seeking a Technician who will focus primarily on laboratory experiments related to improving current organic composite products at the Northborough-Worcester Research Development Center. Typical activities will include calculation of mix slips, mixing, molding, use of laboratory ovens, physical property measurements (density, modulus, strength, optical microscopy, etc.), mechanical property testing (MOR, hardness etc.) and documentation in the form of reports, spreadsheets, operating procedures, and lab books. Additional responsibilities will include set-up, maintaining, and trouble-shooting new equipment and assuring compliance with our safety, chemical inventory and 5S programs
COMPETENCIES:
Interested candidates should possess an associate degree or certification in science or engineering technology or a high school diploma with 3+ years industrial/laboratory experience. The preferred candidate should have experience or be able to demonstrate an aptitude in math, chemistry, composite manufacturing techniques, and composite characterization. Hands on experience with general laboratory tasks, engineering procedures and equipment are required. Computer skills should include familiarity with spreadsheet and word processing programs such as Microsoft® Excel and Word. Good laboratory practices are required to maintain a safe, clean, and organized workplace, and to generate accurate data. Candidates should have good communications skills and be able to work with minimum supervision. Candidate should also be organized, flexible, and able to accommodate a diversified work load. Candidate must be able to lift heavy loads on occasion.
