POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Research Technician will conduct assessment of metabolite profiles in various tissues and in tissue culture systems. This will involve extraction of metabolites from tissues, separation of metabolites by HPLC/UPLC and assessment/identification of metabolites by mass spectrometric methods.
The technician will maintain and operate two Mass Spectrometers: Waters Xevo Tandem MS and Thermo Fisher LTQ Orbitrap Discovery. The successful candidate will perform/develop Ultra-High Pressure chromatography solutions for metabolite separation and conduct sample preparation for metabolite determination.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct tissue metabolite extractions
- Establish metabolite assays
- Utilize mass spectrometer/UPLC maintenance
- Make solutions
- Data graphing and analysis
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience and evidence of publications in mass spectrometry of lipids or metabolites is highly preferred
