Researcher - Research Investigator - Commercial Building Science (VA)
DuPont Building Innovations seeks a Research Investigator that will serve as the commercial building science expert for the DuPont Weatherization Systems business. Responsible for addressing customer and industry questions on commercial building envelope design including fundamental education and understanding of how building products work, and are implemented. Networks with strategic industry influences including government agencies, code officials, associations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to advocate our commercial building science leadership position in the construction community. Translates from the industry next generation technologies that would be a strategic fit with our portfolio. Collaborates with our marketing and technology teams in developing new solutions that will provide a competitive advantage. Qualifications: Ph.D. in Building Envelope Enclosure, Building Science, engineering, architecture, or physics or an MS in these fields with at least 5 years of professional experience. Demonstrated proficiency in building energy simulation, heat and mass transfer, experience integrating numerical analysis with experimental studies to validate analysis is desired. Practical application is required. Knowledge of building science in general, building envelope systems and materials, and mechanical systems and controls is desired. Excellent communication skills, oral and written, are important expected attributes and candidates will be expected to develop or maintain strong relationships through active participation in building industry organizations and events. Oral presentation skills are needed to make presentations to strategic customers and industry influence targets, effective writing skills for preparing reports, proposals, and publications/journal articles, and strong interpersonal skills to support team building, partnering, and leadership. Fluent use of architectural software (ex. BIM, CAD, Autodesk) and energy simulations (WUFI) is desired. Candidate should be LEED Accredited Professional or willing to become a LEED AP. PE certification is desired. Travel is required (~25%).
