Respiratory Therapist II 7P-7A (START DATE JULY, 2012)
Nemours is seeking a Respiratory Therapist II MONDAY - FRIDAY 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (START DATE JULY, 2012) to join our team at the Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando, Florida.

This position is responsible for:
Providing, under the general direction of the Therapist in Charge or Director of Respiratory Care, all routine and emergency respiratory care in all patient care areas. The respiratory therapists provide clinical direction for respiratory care trainees and technicians. The therapists provide consultation and education to other healthcare professionals as well. The therapist is in routine contact with patients during the provision of hands-on care and in frequent contact with patients' families. The respiratory therapist will have contact with other hospital staff, such as nurses and physicians.
Therapist I Essential functions.
Provide all functions of mechanical ventilation to include high frequency, critical care and home care equipment.
Provide advanced medical gas delivery with appropriate equipment. To include, but not be limited to:Nitric Oxide, Helium oxygen; carbon dioxide; nitrogen and diagnostic gases (5% carbon dioxide).
Perform intra-hospital transport of critically ill patients; to include patients with artificial airways.
Perform point-of-care blood testing, including arterial blood gas testing and clotting time.
Contribute to multidisciplinary care rounding with critical care team.
Therapist II Progressive Responsibilities:
Assist with flexible bronchoscopy.
Assist with external transports of respiratory-compromised patients.
Assist with cardiac patients in the operating room and cardiac catheterization lab.
Perform portable spirometry and/or pulmonary function testing.
Perform sleep studies; polysomnogram, pneumogram.
Conduct discharge training and management of technology-dependent patients.
Requirements
* Graduate of educational program for Respiratory Care accredited by an A.A.R.C.-recognized agency.
* Minimum of an Associate's Degree in respiratory science, health/physical sciences, or equivalent, with coursework in chemistry, anatomy, physiology, physics, algebra, and microbiology is required.
* Bachelor of Science preferred.
* Minimum six (6) months in a critical care setting.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
* Successful completion of the C.R.T. examination administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care and/or active certification by the N.B.R.C. is required within one (1) year after employment.
* Active Florida license is required.
* Active registry by the N.B.R.C. and/or successful completion of the R.R.T. Examination administered by the N.B.R.C. is preferred.
* Active Basic Life Support certification is required within six (6) months after employment.
* Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support is preferred.
