RESTAURANTS EDITOR
DailyCandy is looking for a Restaurants Editor to contribute to DailyCandy.com. S/he will be responsible for creating smart, relevant and innovative programming within the food and restaurant field for DailyCandy across multiple platforms and markets, including social, web, deals and email. S/he will develop stories, service-related features and special editorial packages that establish brand authority, expertise and trustworthiness. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and lifestyle content and a proven track record of sourcing content that fits within a specific editorial voice and aesthetic. S/he should be able to work efficiently in high-paced and high-energy environment. The Restaurants Editor will report to the Executive Editor.
Responsibilities include:
· Pitch, assign, schedule, write, and edit stories; write reviews, create listings and edit coverage of the most noteworthy businesses, services, and products for our national and local audiences.
· Create video content that showcases the most noteworthy food and restaurant related trends and experts.
· Create original content for DailyCandy’s Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr.
· Contribute to the build-out of larger-scale editorial packages on DailyCandy.com, working in collaboration with DailyCandy’s web editorial team and city editors to re-report and re-write archival content as necessary.
· Seek new ways to collaborate that enhance the brand experience and create high-value content for our users, including but not limited to ideas for DailyCandy Deals.
· Contribute to the overall DailyCandy editorial programming calendar across email, web, social, video and deals.
Required Experience
- A bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or a related field with 2+ years of experience creating food and restaurant content.
· Strong experience with web best-practices, content management systems, video production, HTML, Omniture, and SEO is required.
· Has close relationships with PR professionals and food industry insiders and has the social skills to build more such relationships.
