An exciting analytical role has become available in Retail Financial Control, part of Retail Distribution Finance, Strategy and Operations. This role will be exclusively focused on driving increased customer centricity though the development of management tools and business insight.
At the 2011 Santander UK convention, Santander UK CEO Ana Botin outlined the need for a more customer centric bank with a service and product proposition based on in-depth understanding of our customers.
Retail Distribution, as the primary customer interface, has a pivotal role to play in making this a reality; we must ensure that all activities are focused on the creation of valuable and enduring customer relationships

As a Retail Data/Business Analyst; Financial Control your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
- Degree educated or equivalent, naturally you will be able to demonstrate experience of applying commercial decision making to your analytical outputs and communication of this data to senior management teams, ideally within a retail banking environment.
- You will have a proven track record of analysing large volumes of customer data and demonstrate the ability to drive valuable insight from it.
- You will have expert knowledge of SAS in a business environment and a detailed understanding of querying and manipulating data using SQL.
- You will have excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Access and VBA.
- An enthusiastic and fresh approach to problem solving is critical to ensure we can respond to internal and external requests for information.
As a Retail Data/Business Analyst; Financial Control your main responsibilities will involve:
- You will be working within the Strategic MI Development team which has the key responsibility of developing and promoting the customer view within our distribution channels.
- You will be instrumental in creating a step change in the way we assess our performance, including the development of new metrics, a new MI suite, and supporting changes to our targeting and incentivisation approach
- Your initial task will be to support the development of a brand new MI resource with specific focus on all aspects of the customer which are necessary for Retail Distribution operations. This will specifically involve a lead role in the design of the Datamart and the analytical tools that will be built to support this new function.
- Once the system is delivered your core accountabilities will be the development, maintenance and distribution of customer centric analytics.
- You will be required to fulfil Executive Committee Actions by providing insightful and innovative analysis using data from various sources.
