Position: Retail District Manager
Retail District Manager is responsible for maximizing company profits while motivating and training the management team in our fast paced fun work environment. Incumbent provides leadership and builds effective management and store teams. Works in partnership with the merchandising and marketing areas. Incumbent may oversee six to fifteen retail stores.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for overall quality and performance of the retail store staff.
- Plans, develops, and achieves an annual profit plan by store and district.
- Analyses causes of variances between actual vs. budget. Manages expenses and develops strategies that position stores to perform in accordance with the budget.
- Develops, implements, maintains, and ensures compliance of the Retail Store Operations Manual for use in all store locations.
Store Operations
- Ensures individual store payroll does not exceed operating budget guidelines.
- Meets or exceeds planned sales and gross margin goals per operating budget guidelines.
- Controls shrinkage between warehouse and retail store locations maintaining a rate not to exceed operating budget guidelines.
- Works with the Marketing Department to develop, coordinate, and communicate store promotions.
- Responds to market needs by providing feedback to Buyers and GMM on new trends and on merchandise inventory.
- Assists Merchandising Department with planning, developing, and implementing all visual merchandising and in-store marketing programs. Works with Retail Store Managers to implement visual merchandising and in-store marketing directives, procedures, and displays.
- Manages retail store expenses ensuring store supplies, safety features, store fixtures, and minor improvements are in place.
- Responsible for retail store security and control process for general store maintenance.
Managing Store Staff
- Hires and mentors store management team.
- Assists with the development of retail store employee training programs.
- Motivates, coaches and trains retail store managers and sales staff.
- Develops, organizes, and implements new projects to increase sales potential.
- Assumes new store opening process from the point retrofit construction is complete.
- Performs other related duties as directed by the VP of Store Operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- Requires a solid knowledge of retail business operations and financials.
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
- Requires a proficient analytical ability in order to gather and summarize data for reports, find solutions to various administrative problems, and prioritize work.
- Must demonstrate an ability to plan and organize effectively.
