The Retirement Plan Sales Consultant manages presale coordination and the entire sales process from proposal to resolution. This is achieved primarily through proactive outbound sales calls and plan analysis. The position requires strong consultative sales skills and an ability to handle objections to assist Financial Professionals in reviewing proposals, positioning products and determining the best approach to closing sales opportunities, including developing strategies for Point of Sale (POS) meetings. The Retirement Plan Sales Consultant is responsible for scheduling field associates at both POS and key office/adviser meetings. Strong initiative, ownership and teamwork are critical to the overall success of the position. The Retirement Plan Sales Consultant will also act as a technical and educational resource to the divisional business unit and other related areas as needed.

Qualifications

Hiring Criteria:

  • Background in marketing and distributing retirement plans, including 401(k), PSP, MMP and ERISA sponsored 403(b) is desired

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including experience presenting in front of groups

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated ability to build professional relationships

  • Ability to work with multiple computer software programs, including proprietary and licensed program packages

  • Minimum of three years experience in the securities industry and one year experience with qualified retirement plans is desired

  • FINRA Series 6 and 63 licenses desired

  • Sales experience and knowledge of the American Funds is desired

  • Bachelor’s degree or RP industry accreditations (ASPPA) desired
