Revenue Accountant recruitment

The Area: With 150 employees, Morningstar Australia New Zealand has been providing independent investment research in Australia and New Zealand since 1999.  We offer a broad range of products and services from managed fund and equity data and research to software solutions and consulting.

The Role: Morningstar Australasia require an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Revenue Accountant to work closely with the Senior Finance Manager and the Australian/New Zealand sales and product teams to play a key role in Morningstar’s global financial reporting, appropriate for a publicly traded U.S. Corporation.   This person will play a key role in our financial planning and reporting process. This role is a 12 month contract position based in our Sydney office.

Key Responsibilities:

+To manage and maintain deferred revenue and revenue recognition for all products across several internal systems.

+ To develop efficient processes around revenue recognition including working with our Senior Finance Manager and the business to determine how to gain efficiencies from our current internal systems.

+To work closely with the Contract Administrator and Operations team to ensure revenue is complete and accurate.

+To prepare reconciliations between the executed client contracts and our accounting system.

+To provide key analysis and data to support our budgeting and forecasting processes.

Requirements:

+Strong organisation skills together with a proactive approach and a drive to meet required deadlines.

+ Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross functionally with business operations.

+ Knowledge of finance, investments and institutional investing desirable.

+Knowledge of Australian, International, and US accounting principles is essential.

+ Advanced knowledge of Excel.

+ Detailed oriented with a passion for ensuring accuracy.

+ Strong analytical skills.

+ Worked with ERP systems (preferably Oracle Financials and/or Hyperion).

+CA/CPA Qualified or Part-Qualified.

+ At least 5 years progressive experience.

+ Prior audit experience required.
