Reviewer – Banking Supervision Department recruitment
• Supervise and monitor the position and operations of the allocated banks/financial institutions, analyze their submitted periodical returns/ statements, check their prudential ratios, identify major risk areas and recommend remedial measures.
• Assist the management and the Examination Team Leaders in the preparation of examination programmes.
• Hold discussions with examination teams for the allocated banks/financial institutions before commencement of examination, highlighting areas of risk pertaining to the concerned institution, attend exit meetings, review examination reports/ transmittal letters and hold discussions with team leaders on all related matters.
• Process various references and requests emanating from the allocated banks/financial institutions and prepare notes for the management suggesting the appropriate course of action required.
• Participate in the meetings held with the management of financial institutions/ external auditors as and when called for.
• Review annual audited accounts of allocated banks/financial institutions, submit reports with recommendation regarding publication of accounts and distribution/ repatriation of profits.
• Process the allocated banks’ annual requests for the appointment of External Auditors.
• Review reports of foreign supervisory bodies on the branches of local banks operating abroad and submit examination findings accordingly to the management, and deal with the correspondence received from foreign supervisory bodies.
• Recommend/ participate in drafting/ updating of prudential and regulatory guidelines/ notices/circulars.
• Participate in updating the Examination Manuals
• Review periodical reports of Banking and Monitory Statistics Unit (BMSU) and identify the areas of risks in the allocated banks and recommend possible remedies.
• Meet regularly with other reviewers to identify the specific areas of risk in the banking system, share market intelligence and report any unusual/abnormal developments to the management.
Qualifications:
• Academic:
Master Degree (Master in Commerce / Master in Business Administration with Major in Finance/Banking). Subjects studied inter alia should also include Accountancy, Commercial Law, and Economics. The degree obtained should be from a recognized reputable University but not through on-line study programme.
• Experience:
Ø 10+ years of banks and other financial institutions’ supervision and regulatory related affairs in a financial services regulator.
Ø Auditing experience of banks in an audit firm is an added advantage.
Ø Sound knowledge of Prudential Regulatory issues, Risk Management and compliance functions in banks.
• Skills:
Candidates will be given preference with the professional qualification(s) of:
Ø Accounting (CA, ACCA, CPA)
Ø Auditing (CIA)
Ø Banking.
• Personality:
Ø Age between 40 and 50 years.
Ø Excellent communication skills.
Ø Computer literate.
Ø Excellent communication skills.
Ø English fluency required. Arabic language is an added advantage.
