Applications Engineer
(RF, Fiber Optic transmission)
SALES SUPPORT
Pre-Sales Engineering
• Engineer system solutions based on design criteria submitted by sales.
• Use iBwave and other design tools to document all non-budgetary designs.
• Submit preliminary design to sales for approval.
• Generate iBwave reports and write technical descriptions as required for insertion into proposal format.
• Generate Pricing (product system).
• Submit design proposal (90-95% reliable) to sales for polishing and presentation to customer.
Post-Sales Engineering
• Confirm/Modify original system design.
• Finalize system design, complete last 5-10%.
• Complete Product Definition form.
• Populate Pedyn.
• Create AutoCAD diagrams and floor plans as required.
• Create System Documentation, i.e., block diagrams, riser diagrams, floor plans with cable/antenna overlays, system manuals, etc.
• Create Acceptance Testing documents as required.
Field Support
• Site Surveys
• System Optimization Commissioning
• System Acceptance Testing
• Warranty Support
• Upgrades Retrofits
• Occasional travel outside U.S. will be required
Technical Support
• General phone support to sales personnel
• Post sales system phone support.
Project Management
• Ensure all long lead-time items are ordered promptly
• Generate Order Confirmation within 1 week for product orders, and within 2 weeks for system orders.
• Partial Shipment requests are understood and complied with.
• Shipment methods are conveyed to the customer.
• Project schedule is coordinated with customer PM contact.
• Schedule optimization visit and system acceptance testing.
Marketing Support
• Occasional Trade Shows
• Occasional onsite Presentations in support of sales/marketing efforts.
Experience
Requires 3 years of professional experience in field service/customer sales/engineering support, preferably including digital radio installation and application experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Requires a working knowledge of electronic theory and practical application, and electronic, electrical and mechanical design from a technical sales support application.
Requires knowledge of basic radio frequency systems, including troubleshooting.
Requires strong verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving and analytical ability, and the ability to build positive relationships and interface effectively with customers and across organizational lines within the company.
