Risk Analyst/Associate – Financial Institution Supervision recruitment

The Counterparty Analysis Monitoring (CAM) team develops analytical and quantitative insights into counterparty relationships among key financial market participants, mainly Complex Financial Institutions (CFIs). CAM monitors and analyzes common financial risks and plays a key role in understanding the systemic risk of globally active supervised institutions.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a proven ability to work with large datasets, capacity for critical and independent thinking, strong analytical and problem solving skills, and solid written and oral communication.

Responsibilities

· Conduct analyses of key counterparty relationships by synthesizing quantitative risk data, qualitative risk management commentary, and information from large financial institution data submissions, internal reporting, and publicly available and regulatory data.
· Perform analysis of large datasets - including graphs, presentations and other supporting documentation - in support of Counterparty Credit Risk, Supervision and policy making.
· Produce timely and actionable analyses of large financial institution counterparty exposures for distribution to senior management.
· Develop macros, programs, and instructions to facilitate and improve data manipulation and quality.
· Monitor a portfolio of firms and liaise with FRB staff and supervised institutions on requests and shared projects.
· Participate in ad hoc projects within Risk Management on topics related to financial stability.

Skills

· A working familiarity of counterparty credit risk and trading products/capital market concepts preferred.
· Strong quantitative analysis skills, including Excel and database programs. Experience and interest with Microsoft Access and Stata preferred.
· Experience in data formatting and preparation (e.g., Excel spreadsheets, graphs, and charts) for written reports or editing.
· Ability to manage and manipulate large data sets.
· Excellent attention to detail.
· Solid written and oral communication skills
· Willingness to handle multiple assignments concurrently and meet tight deadlines.
· Ability to learn and/or adapt quickly to new and complex topics.
· Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
· A Master's degree is preferred; Bachelor's degree candidates with 5-10 years of professional, relevant experience will also be considered.
· Practical experience in financial markets, preferably derivatives with financial counterparties is preferred.
