Risk and Compliance Director recruitment

This is a newly created position with a dynamic and fast growing business and will suit someone who is motivated by the prospect of creating, developing and structuring a robust and high profile Risk and Compliance team and function.

With both Divisional and Group wide responsibility, you will need to build credibility within the Group as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert, influencing and educating at all levels, ensuring that the business complies with relevant regulations and managing relations with regulators and external advisors. Stature and personal authority will be essential as you will lead the relationship with the FSA and prepare the business for future anticipated FSA visits.

You will need to develop and implement an effective audit, risk and compliance strategy and produce a robust framework for systems, controls, policies, procedures and reporting. You will be responsible for translating Board vision into focused policies and standards; ensuring that the organisation is aware of and appropriately prepared for forthcoming regulatory developments; and delivering best-in-class processes and procedures to monitor and ensure compliance. 

You must be highly experienced and regarded by your peers as an expert in the field of compliance and risk management in financial services, with a deep knowledge of the key regulatory and statutory requirements such as MCOB, COB and CCA. You must possess the stature and credibility to inspire confidence at Board level and also with colleagues in the Compliance and Risk Management functions of the Group’s client base. A track record of building and leading high performance teams and of success in a high-growth environment, is expected.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the role is based in South Wales. However, a degree of flexibility on location can be offered, with the client being open minded to alternative arrangements.
