Risk Compliance Officer
Our client, a fast growing company is looking for an independent and dynamic personality on a full-time basis, capable of handling standard legal contracts and able to devise and implement appropriate measures to ensure timely and efficient compliance with applicable laws and regulations to the company’s activities. The role shall consist primarily in assisting the Head of Legal Compliance in his daily activities and duties. The prospective candidate shall typically deal with regulatory issues, the review of contractual arrangements and the establishment of investment reports for risk management purposes. He shall closely monitor internal risk procedures and guidelines to comply with a growing set of international regulatory requirements. The successful candidate shall be able to answer quickly requests from counterparties and ensure that best-practices are implemented and followed on all legal matters. The post is based in Zurich.
The ideal candidate will already have gathered a first experience in a financial or banking environment. A minimum knowledge of Swiss and international laws applicable to investment management activities (AIFMD and CISA) is highly appreciated but not mandatory for the role.
Duties and responsibilities
- Monitor and review internal procedures guidelines for risk assessment and compliance with applicable regulations
- Follow-up on documentation requests and correspondence with financial counterparties
- Implement adequate and efficient documentation management measures;
- Monitor risks on investments and transactions and provide support to the head of Legal Compliance on all contractual matters and legal issues of the company;
- Manage relationships with counterparts for compliance related requests ;
- Keep abreast of rules and regulations applicable to investment activities ;
- Supporting the legal structuring of investment instruments and the drafting of contracts.
Skills and specifications
The ideal candidate is a lawyer who owns an advanced university degree in law from a leading Swiss or European university.
- Good knowledge of Swiss AML regulations
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in the compliance/risk management function of a financial institution, ideally with a strong international exposure
- A team player used to work in an international environment and cope with a dynamic working environment
- Capacity to think critically and find solutions, not only identify problems
- Fast thinker with an independent mindset, capable of taking responsibilities when needed
- Experience with investment funds a valuable asset
- Fluency in English (outstanding writing skills required) and German, any other European language an asset (French, Portuguese or Russian).
