Securities, Financing Network Management (SFNM) a newly created function within Markets Operations, part of our investment banking arm Markets International Banking. This function is responsible for optimising Securities processing, and facing the Collateral Trading, Financing and Treasury functions within Markets. SFNM is a global team with the main operating hubs in London, Manchester, Mumbai, Stamford and Singapore.

As a core part of this function, SFNM Control Team are responsible for designing and implementing an efficient and effective risk governance model and framework, and working in partnership with line management to monitor, assesses and report risk matters. As the demand for control related activities continues to grow, there is a need to hire a risk profession to support and drive the agenda forward.

The role of a control manager by nature is diverse and continually evolves depending on the changes to the environment, including systems and processes. The main aspects of the roles can be summarised as: 1) ensuring a robust and consistent application of the risk control framework and 2) executing specific projects as and when required.

The type and nature of projects continually changes but recent examples include: reviewing Balance Sheet attestation processes, reviewing the completeness and integrity of reconciliations, performing user access reviews, and participating in the completion of assurance testing, for example, meeting the Sarbanes-Oxley Act requirements.
