Responsibilities
Overall Job Purpose To lead and drive a CRO Governance team(s) in order to deliver appropriate governance, risk management, compliance and control solutions in CRO by providing subject matter expertise and/or leadership and to be the key conduit in the formulation, development, maintenance and ongoing review of Governance Control frameworks, policies, procedures and processes within CRO

Key Accountabilities -Ensuring that agreed Barclaycard credit risk policies, procedures and standards are aligned to Barclays Group policy (where appropriate) and taking ownership for embedding these within CRO (particularly including SOX, Basel II and other regulatory risk requirements) - Developing, implementing and reviewing generic Barclaycard credit risk policies, methodology, testing opportunities and/or conformance frameworks to ensure the provision of suitable control and/or credit risk mitigation; champion recommendations for improvements with key stakeholders -Oversee the development, planning, scheduling and undertaking of Governance and Control reviews on a regular (and predetermined) basis; have oversight over cluster processes/ documentation ensuring periodic reviews are in place and providing expertise on updates as appropriate - Designing and establishing concise, credit risk based Management Information packs for the CRO Executive; writing high quality reports on findings and making appropriate recommendations following these reviews - Building effective relationships with the senior management team, functional business areas and cross SBU/SSU Risk teams to ensure consistency of approach across risk areas - Provide expertise and advice to colleagues within and outside the immediate team on major change projects and other major business risk events to ensure that compliance and regulatory requirements are understood, actions identified/undertaken by the appropriate business owners; is the point of sign-off for escalated queries/complex issues - Facilitating risk assessments on complex issues, documenting and analyzing key risks and impacts on different areas of the business, and recommending appropriate courses of action - Ensuring all control issues are identified for the cluster and categorized for remedial action with appropriate action plans implemented within acceptable timescales; ensure that these feed into the Attestation process (joint responsibility with Remediation Manager) - Ensuring that a successful attestation is achieved in their area(s) of Barclaycard, including the Internal Control Framework (financial reporting) and Basel II Operational Requirements - Leading, driving and developing a highly motivated team, maintaining excellent relationships within own and wider team to ensure achievement of business goals; taking ownership in staff matters including hiring, performance development and remuneration decisions.

Person Specification 4-year college degree in a quantitative discipline required, Masters preferred Thorough strategic understanding of the objectives and policies of CRO and Barclaycard; can competently discuss this with others and align workload around business priorities (including delegating accountability to others) - Deep understanding of risk and control methodology, policies, procedures and regulations - Is a risk, governance and control subject matter expert - Ability to set the vision/direction for the team and forward plan - Can manage workloads appropriately amongst the team to ensure delivery within tight timescales - Has previous experience of leading others and a proven ability to motivate, develop and retain colleagues - Is comfortable engaging, influencing and negotiating at all levels of seniority (particularly at senior manager level); can develop effective relationships with stakeholders in order to get results and has a strong network internally and externally - Ability to applying risk assessment tools and techniques to analyze information presented; can link the to bigger picture strategy/policy/regulation and make recommendations for their resolution - Ability to present the results of reports and findings clearly (verbally or written) and in a way that is easy for others to understand, and make complex judgments /recommendations based on this - Excellent verbal, written, analytical and organizational skills; able to deliver feedback effectively and express thoughts concisely - Solid business and financial acumen - Solid understanding of company¿s market (product, players, technologies); has contacts within the industry and related markets The above statements reflect the general details considered necessary to decide the principal functions of the job identified, and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all work requirements which may be inherent in the job.
