Risk Assessment & Review Specialist recruitment
The Risk Assessment and Review unit in UBS (“RAR”) sits within the Risk, Control Policy Framework, which is part of the Global Compliance Function. RAR is responsible for delivering an effective, risk-based independent Compliance review program. It undertakes reviews across UBS proactively to identify and assess actual or potential compliance risks, and reasonably ensure that adequate controls are in place to mitigate any identified risk. RAR also undertakes ad hoc reviews and acts as a rapid deployment team to assess and review key compliance risks. The function has a cross-divisional remit covering the activities of the Investment bank, Global Asset Management and Wealth Management businesses. RAR operates in a global operating model with team members situated in multiple locations
Key tasks and responsibilities include:
- Leading and performing Risk Reviews of the Firm’s operating and supervisory systems, processes and procedures
- Identifying key risks within a variety of business and transaction processes and reporting identified issues to UBS senior management
- Analyzing and assessing the regulatory risks assumed by the business and identifying and evaluating the effectiveness of existing controls designed to address those risks
- Providing practical, innovative, and value-adding solutions to identified issues
- Conducting internal investigations and being involved in special projects, where appropriate
Requirements:
Our ideal candidates should have the following requisites:
- University graduate with 5-8 years financial services experience with a Compliance, Legal, Operational Risk or Audit background combined with a thorough understanding of the financial services regulatory environment and current regulatory developments
- Good communication skills in both written and oral English (Cantonese and Mandarin language skills are highly desirable). Strong interviewing skills and the ability to ask the right questions in order to obtain a thorough knowledge of a subject
- A working appreciation of banking processes and systems and the complexities of modern operational environments
- Pragmatism and the ability to ?think on your feet?, balancing commercial objectives with legal, regulatory and ethical considerations to arrive at sound judgments and decisions and providing compelling solutions
- Excellent report writing skills and the ability to communicate risks, controls and proposed operational solutions in an effective way to audiences of all levels of seniority
