The Portfolio Management team within the Wholesale Risk Area is the local representative of the equivalent function located within the Global Wholesale Risk Area in Madrid.
Working closely with teams within Wholesale Risk (Corporates, Financial Institutions, Credit Risk Control, Structured Finance, etc.) the global and local Portfolio Management teams play a pivotal role in portfolio monitoring, Watch-list, communicating and implementing group best practices, credit policies, procedures and risk appetite in line with the Global Wholesale Risk policies and the Santander UK strategy.

As a Risk Associate - Portfolio Management your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
- Degree or equivalent professional qualification
- Strong track record of experience of regulatory trends, including economic and regulatory capital frameworks.
- Experience of preparing financial statements, accounting terminology and of legal documentation.
- Confidence to make recommendations, or as appropriate exercise personal judgement effectively, whilst being willing to refer matters where appropriate.
- Experience of working independently to a high quality output,
- Track record in working to and meeting deadlines and completing targets.
- Experience in reporting skills
- Successful track record of problem solving
- Spanish language skills (desirable).
As a Risk Associate - Portfolio Management your main responsibilities will involve:
- Assist the Senior Manager in the monitoring and analysis of the UK Wholesale Risk exposure on a portfolio basis and recommending actions accordingly.
- Assist the Senior Manager in coordinating all UK Wholesale Risk needs regarding FEVE (Watch-list), special situations, work-outs, provisions, etc.
- Collaborate in the annual review and approval of Wholesale Risk Policies Manuals: Risk Framework/Risk Appetite, Delegated Authorities, Collateral Parameters, Manuals, Large Exposures, Global Custody, etc.
- Working closely with Wholesale Risk, Solvency Risk, Finance and Group Risk, primarily responsible for the Management Information("MI") that relates to Wholesale Risk, reviewing all MI and commentary for internal reporting (Board, ExCo, any Risk Committee, etc.) and external information (rating agencies, FSA, annual report, etc.), and improving the databases and information capability of Wholesale Risk with recommendation of reports and analysis.
- Coordinating all Wholesale Risk input into New Products Approvals and supporting Credit Risk Control in the local implementation of global IT projects if required.
- Other responsibilities will cover S-Ox Controls, coordination of intra-group exposures, stress testing scenarios, etc.
Location: London
Salary: £65,000-75,000 + car allowance and excellent benefits
