Risk Engineering Team Leader – Coal / Gas / Oil recruitment
Main responsibilities are:
- Implement a wide variety of Risk solutions and have a full understanding of the market risk environment
- Design pricing libraries in C++
- Analyse and support the new product delivery in the core risk systems
- Review, implement quantitative projects and provide analysis
- Support and understand the risk management measures including sensitivity analysis, VAR and stress testing.
- Second level support for the End of Day processes and IT related projects
The Team Leader Risk Engineering Coal / Gas / Oil will report to the Head of Risk Engineering and be expected to manage a team of 4-7 staff across multiple locations setting priorities and goals. The Team Leader will have a key role in building up Risk Engineering and will also be asked to take on the lead on one of the cross-cutting topics.
For Coal/Gas/Oil products:
- Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the front office and the risk management
- Design and supervise required changes to Endur to support the desk-facing teams, including
- Designing products and market data in Endur within the New Business Approval and New Model processes
- Provide guidelines and support to the curve setup , volatility, correlations and risk management measures such as VaR and stress testing
- Undertake complex analysis for Endur
- Tests and reviews of the Quant projects
- Support the development and implement an Endur strategy and roadmap for Risk
- Provide support for Risk projects that require changing or heavily building to Endur
- Some travel will be required
Education Qualification:
Degree level or equivalent, preferably in the field of Business Administration, Economics, Maths, Science, or closely related.
Competencies and Technical Skills:
- Strong experience of Risk management, e.g. conceptual development and presentation of limit measurement concept and usage and transfer of complex model. An ability to engage with Front Office on all matters and challenge strategies.
- Significant understanding of commodity trading, trading lifecycle, physical asset trading instruments and/or financial asset trading instruments.
- Good specialist commodity expertise in the markets relevant for the team and basic knowledge of related markets. Significant relevant market expertise.
- Significant experience of the energy industry, including utilities, generation assets, energy supply chain, oil industry, energy trading, supply and sales.
- Intermediate to strong knowledge of Microsoft applications, especially Excel, including task automatisation and VBA.
- Significant experience of deal modelling, option theory, Monte-Carlo simulation techniques, Greeks, pricing models, stress testing, VaR concepts. Very good numerical ability.
- Significant experience of Finance and accounting processes, including PL reporting, mark-to-market accounting, IAS39 and accounting principles.
- Significant experience of taking the lead in project and/or process management.
- Intermediate to strong knowledge of specialist IT systems and software, e.g. OpenLink Endur, SQL, SAP Business Objects and /or other OLAP tools, object-oriented programming languages and mathematical modelling software.
- Significant experience of Risk reporting environments and commodity market data sources.
- Strong evidence of consistent delivery through personal drive and high personal standards. Demonstrable delivery in a complex, preferably international, environment.
- Significant evidence of application of quantitative and qualitative analytical and structured approaches to complex issues. Strong evidence of using appropriate questioning and attention to detail.
- Strong evidence of influencing and negotiating at a senior level and managing relationships with key stakeholders. Evidence of utilising appropriate assertiveness in approach where required, in order to manage customers and team members. Strong standards of communication across the range and especially towards senior management.
- Significant experience of managing others workload and development using a supportive and coaching approach. Strong examples of managing conflict within teams and with stakeholders. Role modelling best behaviours.
- Strong evidence of building relationships and working highly collaboratively, preferably in a cross-cultural environment using strong empathy and awareness. Demonstrable use of these skills in order to ensure effective delivery.
Fluent spoken and written English is mandatory.
Willingness to travel to other company locations on a regular basis.
