Risk Management Analyst

Position Description

Candidate will assist in management of Mexican and other Latam credit risk portfolio and comprehensive risk management of MS's local Mexican brokerage entity.
Mexican Broker Dealer Risk Management Responsibilities:
- Assist in management of onshore market, credit, operational and liquidity risks of local Mexican broker dealer subsidiary
- Ensure Risk Management compliance with local regulatory requirements
- Interact with regulators, most importantly in the context of regulatory exams
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly risk committee meeting agendas and ensure inclusion of relevant topics
- Aggregation, measurement and reporting of local broker dealer's risks
- Work closely with fixed income and equity business units and participate on Risk Management's behalf on the new product approval process
- Continue to develop risk controls and participate in the growth of the business as local office and product offerings expand
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key areas across local broker dealer and with counterparts in NY and participate in projects as needed

Firm Credit Risk Management Responsibilities:
- Assist in management of Morgan Stanley's Mexican and Latam counterparty credit risk portfolio
- Conduct annual credit reviews of portfolio. Recommend internal ratings and exposure limits
- Review derivative transaction proposals, assess risk, make recommendations to management
- Analyze lending proposals and make recommendations to credit and capital commitment committees
- Active participation in the negotiation of derivative, sec lending/repo, and loan documentation

Skills Required

• Undergraduate degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Economics. Advanced degrees and/or CFA certification are not required but considered a plus.
• 1-3 years of risk management-related experience in financial services
• Understanding of capital markets products, including securities, OTC derivatives, secured financing transactions and loans
• Fluency or proficiency in Spanish; Portuguese as plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Successful candidates will be well-organized, detail-oriented
