Risk Management Specialist/Consultant – Capital Adequacy & Stress Testing recruitment

This role will support the core supervisory activities of the Risk Specialist Division related to capital adequacy and stress testing. Key responsibilities of this position will be to review bank capital plans and provide feedback on those plans to Federal Reserve colleagues and bank management teams. In addition, this job will include a focus on stress testing as outlined by the Dodd-Frank Act. Through analysis of many institutions, both within and outside of the Chicago Federal Reserve district, the person in this position will identify key industry trends related to the capital planning process. This role will also require participating in and providing work direction during specialized reviews. Most of the company-specific work will be with large and regional banking organizations. The level of work is considered advanced and candidates must be able to work with limited supervision. This position will not have any direct reports.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Essential Duties

Review complex data and emerging risk information within the regulatory and internal capital planning frameworks. Interpret the information in order to make assessments related to capital adequacy.

Prepare clear and concise written finding summaries and reports, supervisory documents, project proposals and analysis of risk management topics.

Develop and maintain knowledge of emerging risk issues, capital trends, and ongoing developments in the financial services industry, including current accounting and financial reporting standards.

Lead or have a significant role in Federal Reserve System initiatives related to the assessment of advanced risk management frameworks. These may include the development, qualification and implementation processes for Basel II, internal capital assessment and economic capital activities, and specialty risk modeling.

Use models and other technical analytical tools run by the group to provide support to examination teams and Federal Reserve System initiatives, and conduct research and development for related tools.

Develop industry assessments of key risk trends related to capital planning and stress testing for financial institutions within the Chicago Federal Reserve district and across the Federal Reserve System.

Develop and maintain relationships with personnel at the Board of Governors, other Reserve Banks, other regulatory agencies, and supervised institutions.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Experience:

Specialist:

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience as noted below, Masters Degree preferred
7-10 years of direct examination or risk management experience

Consultant:

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience as noted below (Masters Degree strongly preferred)
PhD or post masters course work in quantitative modeling or statistical analysis fields beneficial
10-15 years of direct examination or risk management experience

 

Knowledge Skills:

Strong analytical skills, with the ability to communicate results effectively, both written and verbally

Detail oriented, and able to form conclusions and recommendations based on analysis of complex situations

Must be able to work collaboratively within and across multiple teams

Self-motivated and self-directed

Thorough knowledge of the banking industry

Familiarity with methods of assessing capital adequacy and stress testing

Related risk management or capital planning experience is beneficial

Other Requirements:

Domestic travel required – approximately 0-25%
