Risk Manager, Fixed Income recruitment
Responsibilities Include:
- Responsible for the risk management of the Fixed Income asset class
- Direct oversight of one risk analyst; ensure proper training and guidance is provided
- Assist in the monitoring of other businesses, including knowledge of processes, limits, and guidelines
- Help develop and vet the tools needed to monitor the Fixed Income business, including reporting requirements
- Work with IT to create and define new reports to monitor client risk, limits and limit overruns; streamline and automate processes when possible
- Monitor the market environment and report the impact of market events on accounts
- Run risk systems/programs/processes and compile transaction and position related data across products, accounts, portfolios, and business lines
- Measure, monitor and report the account and in-house risks (Positions, Greeks, VaR, Stress, IMRs, CVaR, Stress, Concentrations, etc.) associated with the trade activities and positions
- Compare position data and risk measures with pre-established customer and house trading limits
- Verify that customers and desks are trading consistently with approved strategies
- Ensure that positions are properly hedged where applicable
- Investigate limit overruns, notify front office, and instruct them to bring the positions within approved limits and/or strategies
- Quantify risk exposure and escalate noteworthy overruns, violations and unusual activities/situations to the Market Risk Manager
- Assist in creating and maintaining price verification policies and methodologies to ensure that all positions are properly marked and independently ver
- Establish relationships with business managers, account representatives, and business personnel to effectively monitor and understand the sources of business activity, resolve issues, and to alert the business of risk and limit issues
Qualifications Include:
- 5+ years of Risk Management or Trading experience. 3+ years direct trading/risk experience as an analyst in at least one asset group: Fixed Income, Commodities, Equities, and/or FX.
- Experience in a broker dealer environment preferred.
- Masters Degree in quantitative finance or financial engineering is preferred.
- Understanding of Options theory and exposure to listed and OTC derivative products and markets including: futures, options, forwards, swaps.
- Market and Credit Risk concepts and methodologies.
- Experience with Front / Middle / Back Office trading / trade processing / trade accounting systems.
- Familiarity with risk analysis tools and methods such as exchange margining, stress testing, and VaR. Ability to manipulate, analyze and summarize the results a plus.
- Exceptional PC skills with advanced proficiency in Excel, VBA and databases.
- Fluency in SQL, C++, a plus.
- NASD licenses (Series 7, 3, 63 etc) preferred.
- Meticulous / details oriented / thorough.
- Both practical (operational) and analytical skills with intuition of risk exposure and drivers.
- Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively on group and ad-hoc projects and meet deadlines.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with staff at all levels.
