Risk Manager – Operational Risk Oversight recruitment

We are currently looking to recruit within our Operational Risk Oversight team.
Your role will be to ensure Santander UK has the appropriate management of Operational Risk; achieved through setting standards and providing help, guidance, oversight and challenge.

As an Operational Risk Manager Oversight your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
- Significant experience of Operational Risk in a Bank using the Advanced Measurement Approach.
- Effective negotiation skills and effectively manages conflicting intra - interdepartmental goals
- Experience of setting, challenging and monitoring risk frameworks
- Ability to analyse, interpret and evaluate information and make authoritative recommendations
- Proven experience of effective networking with internal stakeholders to both maintain knowledge of the business and to influence and implement change
- Experience of the UK regulatory environment associated with banking activities.
- Experience of prioritisation and delegation on a variety of cross functional projects
- Ability to explain complex financial and risk issues and influence Executive Management
- A range of influencing skills needed to deal with the broader range of interaction required
- Proven experience of maintaining and utilising industry networks effectively
- Insightful understanding of leading-edge risk management practices, processes and techniques
- Degree qualified or equivalent in a quantitative field

As an Operational Risk Manager Oversight your responsibilities will include:
- Help develop further and maintain an Operational Risk Framework outlining the main risk principles, organisational structure, governance controls and minimum standards.
- Help and support the Business, Risk and Control areas in improving the management of Operational Risk.
- Oversight and challenge the day-to-day management of Operational Risk.
- Provide independent regular reporting on operational risks, the risk profile, performance against agreed risk appetite limits, risk improvement plans and actions required.
- Report and escalate, as appropriate, where standards are not met, risk appetite or limits are exceeded or controls are not considered effective.
- Undertake specific "deep dive" analysis of key risk and control areas and issues giving cause for concern.
- Help extend, improve and embed stress testing, scenario analysis and contingency planning in Operational Risk.
- Identify potential future and emerging operational risks, which are considered worthy of management attention and action.
- Work with the Business, Risk and Control areas to ensure operational risks are considered appropriately alongside other risks.
- Develop and maintain up to date professional and technical knowledge, market awareness and leading developments in Operational Risk.
Salary: Up to £109K p/a plus benefits
