Risk Manager – T&O

Accountable for development, documentation, maintenance and oversight of operations governance risk models, risk control frameworks and programs for small to medium size portfolios of moderate to high risk and/or complexity in Technology and Operations (TO) to ensure that operational risks are appropriately identified, measured, reported and managed so that business partner objectives are achieved within the organization’s tolerances for risk and in compliance with laws, regulations and internal policies and standards.  Act as a subject matter expert (SME) in assigned area of operational risk management, performing independent governance and oversight of such things as compliance, business continuity planning, regulatory and risk assessment programs, activities and results.
Accountable to provide risk management expertise as a main integration point for assigned areas of accountability.  This role meets objectives within a twelve- to eighteen-month time horizon.

• University degree/college diploma or equivalent
• 7 to 10 years experience in risk with either an operations and or technology background within the financial services industry
• Knowledge and understanding of BMO Initiative Decisioning Process (IDP)/ Investment Spend Optimization (ISO)
• Solid knowledge of standard desktop applications used by the business unit
• Solid knowledge and understanding of the business unit’s key products and services, processes, controls and organization
• Advanced understanding of operational risk and related control frameworks and practices
• Advanced understanding of the business unit’s risk and regulatory requirements
• Advanced understanding of industry practices and risk reporting fundamentals
• Solid knowledge of departmental systems and applications
• Solid understanding and knowledge of the business planning process, reporting cycles and requirements, protocols for sign-offs and information sharing, and key business metrics
• Solid understanding of system design, databases and business intelligence techniques
• Advanced understanding of risk inherent in area of expertise.
